Fair Trade Coffee Roaster"

Thanks for visiting! At FRC we love our coffee, so much so that we stock the widest selection of coffee in Canada. But it isn't only about our selection, we know coffee. Our roasting style has developed a devoted following and we have a reputation of having the freshest coffee available anywhere. We also have a kindred spirit with home roasters as that is how we started as well. All our coffees are available unroasted for you to enjoy with your own special roasting style.

We carry Fair Trade Certified Coffee

Its not only about roasting and selling coffee (though it is a very amazing thing in of itself) we strongly believe in Fair Trade and Organic coffees. For an idea of what made us think about Fair Trade check out the documentary "Black Gold". While we love variety (we stock both Fair Trade and Non Fair Trade) we will always carry fairly traded and organic products in first priority if we can get them. In the long run with your support we intend to establish direct trade with the producing countries to benefit them in a more
substantial way.

"What makes our coffee different?"
Three words, Intent, Love, and Chaos.

Intent -
there is a belief in some quarters that foods know the emotions and intent of the person preparing it. If you truly pay attention to your product on a personal level, be there, the resulting product will taste better i.e. grandmas apple pie (it also doesn't hurt when you have done it a thousand times). Call it strange but the roasters and I as trained chefs believe this to be true. Hand made products will always taste better than mass manufactured products.

Love -
We love what we do, period. The bean is such an amazing thing to work with. The palette variations we see in coffees from around the world is amazing. It is an incredible thing to meet people and introduce them to coffees perfectly suited for them, they go crazy. Well that was us four years ago. Since then we have roasted the bean in and on ovens, frying pans, bbqs, popcorn poppers, electric roasters, small roasters, and now our standard traditional gas fired drum roasters. We have definitely developed a very individual style and taste.

Chaos -
Remember that people go crazy thing? It has been pure and utter chaos since we started. People have loved it. We now supply several of the most prominent retailers and restaurants in the area with fresh roasted beans, as well as our markets, the internet, and a burgeoning festival scene. It is chaos keeping up with the roasting. Our beans are so fresh because we have so much going on they never even get to leave dust prints on the shelf! Coffee is like a loaf of bread, sooner from the oven the better so I geuss this works out well for all parties involved.
