I would love to pick the brains of all the coffee drinkers out there!

I love Dave's cafe and always wonder if I am using a good brewing method.

I use a burr grinder to hopefully get the best starting point. At work I have a bodum. At home I use a Hamilton Beach Brew Station Deluxe. I love each. I make two pots at work and usually drink 4-5 cups a morning on the weekends at home....need my cafe for the paper, etc!! I have used thermal carafes and found them lacking.

The Brewstation is great for keeping coffee warm for many hours and not burning it...sometimes not as warm as I would like though, I would have to say. :o(

I do not want to spend hundreds on a coffee maker, but,am not against $150 or so.

I have ben reading up and found one or two that use better "water coverage" for the brewing process. I am leaning towards the Cuisinart On Demand Coffee Maker. It is like the Hamilton Beach, but, provides a system that applies the wtre better over the grounded coffee and has a double thermal container. (Sorry, I sound like an advertisement...lol).

Anyway, this is where I am leaning at the moment. I am lookingh to find a machine that allows me to truly enjoy the coffee I but without beaking the bank! Any thoughts on brewing machines would be greatly appreciated!!1

Ooops, several things to add / ask:

I use water filtered thru a Brita on tap filter.

Ask:
I have been using a permanent gold filter and a paper filter. I hav read many pro's and con's and am thinking I will try without the paper. I do not mind if there is minor amounts of sediment in my coffee cup - that the paper filter would remove. It sounds like the paper will remove a portion of the coffee's body. Any thoughts to this would also be appreciated.

Hi Frank,

I too struggled for many years trying to find the best hook up for brewing coffee at home. I went through coffee makers like there was no tomorrow.

Most of our friends, family, and ourselves swear by the Cuisinart grind and brew (about $180). The ease of preparation is quite good and the cup quality is as good as any we serve at our markets.

At home I just go with the gold filter as I like the sediment in the pot for body and flavour. It is also some days the only fiber I get...

I'd love to hear what anyone else is using so feel free to jump on...Dave

This year I purchased a Technivorm KBT 741. I love. The coffee comes out HOT and we run it at least 3 times a day and it hasn't missed a beat. I like the looks of it as well. We use paper filters but I have been thinking about switching to gold.
