I just recently recieved a bag of the "Jamaica Blue Mountain Peaberry as a gift. I have never tried this coffee before. I made some today....but it came out really weak. Since there wasn't any directions on the bag...I made it how I make my coffee that I normally buy from Trader Joes in Michigan. So...I followed the Trader Joe's guide = 2 tablespoons for every six ounce of water.

Didn't come out as good as I would have liked.

Any suggestions on making that perfect cup?

Thanks
Sandy

Hello there, well you are on the track with the peaberry most Specialty coffee associations are recommending the amount of coffee you used as the perfect amount or the "Gold Standard".

I almost still have the taste of the JBM peaberry in my mind and it was a bolder coffee than the regular JBM so it should not come across as light unless you are accustomed to very dark roasts.

The one thing I would speculate it is the grind needs to be finer. Picture the fine white sand beaches of the Caribbean, this is the size the grind particle should be for drip coffee. For other methods the grind varies but if you try grinding it slightly finer you will find more impact in the cup. I hope this helps.

P.S. It also helps to use good reverse osmosis water with a coffee of this quality.
