Dave! I roasted my first beans on Saturday. MMMMMMMMM They were yummy. I'm hooked now! I even blogged about it: http://fromshoelevel.com/blog/index.php?id=21 and posted a note on my Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=2395831398&ref=mf (no extra charge for the plugs to your web site ;) ) Thanks for the great advice. Can't wait to try some other beans! Chris

Hi Dave, I bought a bag of a really nice decaf coffee that I tried at the Grand Bend fleamarket this past July. The trouble is, I'm almost out and wanted to re-order more bags of it but can't remember the name of it. It was a really light blend - almost like drinking tea. Do you have any clue what brand it could have been? Also, when I was at the flea market, I was asking if you were able to get in any Dominican Coffee (my grandfather and aunt like that type of coffee) and you said that you could order it in. Do you have any in stock now? Shannon

Hi Shannon, I would think that the decaf was the Peru Fair Trade Decaf. Very light and balanced. Yes have plenty of Dominican coffee, it has been pretty popular. It is Fair Trade as well which is always a good thing. Drop me an email with your address and we can arrange shipping if required. Nice to hear from you Shannon. fireroastedcoffee@hotmail.com Dave

We were in Costa Rica in Feb. and were impressed with the quality of the coffees there. Visited several operations. Were very happy to see that you carry Costa Rican coffee at the fair booth! Hope to see you there again soon!

It has been awhile since we updated on what we find to be the most interesting cups we are roasting these days. Ethiopian Harrar Fair Trade Organic -Patrick and I have both decided that this would be our desert island coffee. If we were stranded with only one coffee available this is it. Roasted dark it has a bold dark character but a beautiful rich dark fruit core that is stunning. Medium to heavy body Mexican Oaxaca Fair Trade Organic -For a medium roast this rich beauty has the nutty, tropical fruit and sweet acidity of a fine chard. Organic intercropping offers awesome extra influences into the flavour. Heavy body. Kenya Fair Trade -Hey who can argue with a bunch of vendors at trade shows and farmers markets. This one is it, if we don't have it on brew watch out! A good balanced cup loved by all with medium body, good rich deep earthiness, touched off by Kenyas legendary acidity

Yemen Mocha Matari. I don't know how this fits in with standard bean classification and naming, but I used to get a coffee from a roaster in Toronto under this name. It was delicious, mild yet full-bodied and velvety. Yum. I would absolutely LOVE to get some more of this.

Ah the legendary Yemen Matari Mocha. The stories...Yemen was once the kingdom of coffee. All coffee consumed in the world principally came from the port of Mocha, yes that is where the name came from. Today Mocha is a silted port and coffee ships no longer ply their trade there. The once mighty mansions of the coffee barrens are slowly melting away in the sand of one of the poorest nations on earth. In a nutshell yes I have Matari Mocha from Yemen and it is beautiful. I think I have one last pound left at one of my markets which I will get for you and list. I will then order a 132 lb bag of green Matari Mocha next week that I will roast and send to you whenever your heart desires. Cheers Dave

Time for me to weigh in here. I started out 2 years ago as a strict dark rost drinker. Over the time though i have become a lover of medium roasts. I would have to agree with Tartman that Kuai is fantastic but my heart lies in Africa. The Ugandan is my favourite African coffee right now. The sweetness and cherry flavour are out of this world. Also the Tanz Peaberry, Yirg and Sidamo. I do enjoy dark roasts still but the sublety i get from the medium and medium darks is amazing.
